In this video, DN Instructor Michelle Young collaborates with DN Instructor Shawna Lewis with a 4 year old Arabian to help prepare her for her first ride. Shawna has been playing with her on the ground and asked Michelle for her input on specific preparation for riding.
You will see Michelle address foundational throughness to yields at close range as a way to simulate the closeness the horse will feel when ridden. The goal is to help the horse find relaxation inside the pressure, which is the most basic version of mental, emotional, and physical throughness.
