Collection on Long Lines with Hot Shot - May 2020
All Ground Work

16m
Karen plays with her horse, Hot Shot, on long lines in order to improve his collectibility. He already knows how to collect and piaffe; now Karen wants him to increase the duration he does it.
Hot Shot is a typically low energy horse, so it is important that Karen motivates him to put in the effort without having to nag. You’ll also see Karen play a little with his super-collected canter, which is harder for him in this moment. By the end of the video, Hot Shot is bubbling up and offering bigger efforts while remaining calm.
This video is great for anyone to watch and learn. The exercise is appropriate for anyone who already has the basics of long lining very solid and has been playing with collectibility.
